The Texas A&M College of Nursing is looking for a Software Developer to serve as a member of The Texas Teleforensic Remote Assistance Center (Tex-TRAC) in the Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing. Job Description Summary: The Software Developer II, under direction, performs complex and specialized software development support functions, such as troubleshooting, analysis, research, de-bugging, and problem-solving. This position will support The Texas Teleforensic Remote Assistance Center (Tex-TRAC) in the Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing at Texas A&M University by providing the front-end software development to define and modify telehealth application capabilities as needed.
This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding which is renewed under the provisions of the grantor of the contract. This position, therefore, is contingent upon continuation of funding of these grants and/or contracts and satisfactory job performance.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of training/education and experience.
Required Experience:
- Three years of related experience.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Knowledge of advanced analysis, troubleshooting, problem-solving, client relations skills, requirement assessment and analysis, project management methodology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to plan and organize effectively.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or MIS.
- Strong understanding of JavaScript.
- Good understanding of Linux command line, windows management, and virtual machines.
- Proficiency of the Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL)
- Good understanding of browser rendering behavior and performance.
- Ability to work in an Agile environment
- Five years of related experience.
- Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.
- React library experience
- Handling video and audio streams
Job Responsibilities
- Reviews, modifies and/or writes programming codes for Tex-TRAC applications.
- Writes documentation of system procedures and guidelines for application users.
- Designs complex programs, program modifications, or applications.
- Serves as lead developer on small scope applications and assist in larger applications design and implementations.
- Tests complex programs, program modifications, or applications.
- Recommend technical and design for new or revised applications including flow charts, system specifications, programming guidelines and code review
- Designs complex programs, program modifications, or applications.
- Research problems and technical solutions.
- Provide resource and timeline estimated and progress reports for newly assigned projects.
- Participate in training and professional development sessions/conferences.
- Consults with internal and external users to define application requirements, identifies programming and output needs, verifies preliminary design and output.
- System testing and provide the software patch to Tex-TRAC applications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
