What we want
The Software Applications Developer I, under direction, will work closely with the design and development teams to create user-centered designs and front-end interfaces for web and mobile applications, ensuring web accessibility compliance. This role requires a strong understanding of design principles, user experience, and front-end development technologies. The Software Applications Developer I will be responsible for creating wireframes, mockups, prototypes, user interface designs, and working with developers to implement and test their designs.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4 months of experience in UI/UX design, front-end development, or a related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of design principles, user experience, and front-end development technologies.
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment.
Must have strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe XD, with a focus on accessibility design considerations.
Experience with front-end development frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
Experience with web accessibility testing tools, such as JAWS, NVDA, and WAVE.
Experience coding in C#, Ruby, PHP, Java, or other high-level programming languages.
Knowledge of responsive web design best practices.
Knowledge of user-centered design principles and practices.
Knowledge of web accessibility standards and guidelines.
Knowledge of software development principles and practices.
Responsibilities
User Interface Design and Development: Design and develop user interfaces using C#, JavaScript frameworks, HTML, CSS, Ruby, PHP, and Java, ensuring web accessibility compliance. Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, product managers, and software application developers to understand user needs and business requirements.
Design Implementation & Support: Work closely with application developers to ensure designs are properly implemented and functioning as expected. Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and UI component libraries. Focus on mobile responsiveness, accessibility testing, and troubleshooting. Answer questions and provide technical guidance, support, and/or training to users from various departments.
Wireframes, Mockups, Prototypes & Usability Testing: Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and user interface designs that align with user needs, business objectives, and web accessibility standards. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify user needs, create personas, and develop user scenarios. Plan, conduct, and analyze usability tests, including surveys, interviews, and observation sessions.
Professional Development, Reports & Procedures: Utilize established procedures for coding, software security, software testing, software methodology, deployment of software, and change documentation throughout the software development process. Learn new programming languages, software development techniques, and work processes with a special emphasis on UI/UX, front-end development, and web accessibility as directed by supervisor. Complete reports and summaries for supervisor and/or users, including status reports, problem reports, progress summaries, and system utilization reports.
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting organizational projects, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
