This is a grant-funded position and reassignment will be based upon performance, progress toward research goals and continuation of funding.

Purpose

This Social Science/Humanities Research Associate V position will serve as a member of the internal evaluation team for the AWARE Texas Expansion Consortium. Advancing Wellness and Resilience in Education (AWARE) is is a five-year initiative designed to strengthen community and school-based supports for the mental health and resiliency of students. Under this federal grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has partnered with Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to implement this program, which deploys mental health clinicians and evidence-based practices to school campuses.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex data management and statistical analysis from existing data collection platforms.
  • Formulate data collection and reporting plans as required by funding sponsors. Manage project-related data submission, collection, and cleaning.
  • Maintain strong, positive relationships with project partners to support
    collaborative evaluation, including participating in work groups to support project
    activities.
  • Plan research projects and develop research protocols in mental health. Respond to ad hoc reporting requests in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Prepare regular evaluation or research reports or data visualizations for agency feedback and project reporting.
  • Provide expert consultation and support on committees and work groups
    focused on data quality and quality improvement.


Required Qualifications

Master's Degree with major coursework in mental health or associated field with at least 6 years of relevant research or evaluation experience OR Doctoral Degree in mental health or associated field with at least 4 years of relevant experience. Experience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Excellent attention to detail. Excellent communication and writing skills. Values the contributions of others in the work environment.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Public Health. Significant experience with data analysis of large datasets. Experience in program management and quality improvement. Experience with data visualizations in Power BI or similar tool.


Salary Range

$65,000 - $70,000 depending on qualifications

Work Shift

  • M-F, Flexible between 8am-6pm
