Job Description:

To perform responsible work involving planning, directing, supervising, and participating in research in a field of social science or humanities. Responsible for gathering and interpreting data and preparing materials for publication in the field of specialization. Assists superior in planning research projects, or personally plans a whole project or parts of it. Participates in research, plans, and organizes the study, analyzes and interprets the results of the research, and directs and participates in the preparation of the results for publication. Acts as a consultant for certain groups of individuals, assisting them with specific problems, preparing materials for them, analyzing problems, and recommending possible solutions. Keeps informed on current information and allied research projects being conducted elsewhere. Assists with the general administrative duties of a specific area, such as purchasing, accounting, record keeping, and the safekeeping of finished publications and their distribution for sale. Performs related duties as required. May assist in the selection of personnel by interviewing applicants, making recommendations, and hiring employees. Prepares answers to inquiries from citizens, public officials and private organizations covering diverse subjects within the field of specialization.

General Notes

This position is funded by a 5-year NIH grant to study the effects of an asthma intervention program with Latinx families. The Research Associate will conduct assessments with research participants in English and Spanish and conduct recruitment of participants through primary care clinics throughout Austin. The Research Associate will be responsible for gathering data and preparing materials for publication. The Research Associate will also be involved in preparing data for analysis and conducting quantitative analyses, and complete other related research tasks as assigned .

This position will be renewed annually depending on continued grant funding and performance.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with the recruitment of research participants.

  • Responsible for data collection and management.

  • Engages with clinic and community partners.

  • Performs tasks such as data analysis.

  • Prepares manuscript for publications and journals.   


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field plus four years of experience conducting human subjects research.

  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends) based on clinic and participant needs.

  • Reliable transportation.


Salary Range

$36,500
