Job Description:

The incumbent will serve as the lab manager for Dr. Clark’s Health Equity in Aging and Longevity Research Group. Previous experience working on NIH-funded research trials of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders and familiarity with cross-cultural neuropsychology is required. The incumbent should also have experience conducting neuropsychological testing and MRI brain scans in geriatric and neurological clinical populations. Community engagement and outreach is a necessary part of the lab duties and this position requires fluency in English and Spanish.

General Notes

The incumbent will serve as a lab manager for multiple studies exploring neurobiological mechanisms underlying health disparities in Alzheimer's disease and related disorders (ADRD) within the Department of Psychology. Foundational knowledge of cross-cultural neuropsychology and health disparities research is highly recommended, and previous experience working with geriatric patients with ADRD is required. The position will involve both administrative and clinical duties (see below). This position will provide invaluable experience for anyone interested in pursuing graduate study in the fields of psychology or public health. This is a two-year assignment with the chance to renew based continued grant funding and/or performance.


Responsibilities

  • The lab manager will serve as the main point-person and liaison between study staff, research participants, and Principal Investigator (PI). The lab manager will be developing and amending IRB study protocol documents required for the university and other research partnerships. Training and supervising undergraduate research assistants, coordinating with graduate students, and ensuring the team is always in good regulatory standing is also expected.
  • The incumbent will also be responsible for setting-up and managing local REDcap databases and organizing publicly available data from the ADNI and HABS-HD initiatives for research explorations. 
  • The lab manager will obtain informed consent/HIPAA, independently administer neurocognitive assessments, conduct structured clinical interviews, and collect questionnaire data for study participants. They will also collect MRI brain scans, process this data through neuroimaging pipelines, obtain buccal swab specimens, coordinate blood draws, and acquire blood pressure and pulse wave velocity measures. 
  • The lab manager will also assist the PI with preparing educational outreach presentations for community members. 
  • The incumbent will conduct literature reviews, perform quantitative analyses, present at conferences, and assist the PI with various publications and grant applications.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, public health, biology, or a related field. Must be bilingual in Spanish and English and pass language certification tests. Previous experience administering comprehensive neuropsychological testing batteries in Spanish and English. Previous experience working with geriatric or neurologically impaired clinical populations.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience with multicultural neuropsychology; phlebotomy or EMT certifications; previous experience serving as a teaching assistant for research methods and/or statistics courses.


Salary Range

$37,398 + depending on qualifications
