Position Summary
The Social Media Marketer will be a student workforce position and is responsible for creating attention-grabbing posts and profile updates on the social media properties of the Sever Institute and the Technology & Leadership Center at WashU’s McKelvey School of Engineering. This position will play an important role in the promotion of services, student testimonials and event updates.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Creates concepts, organizes and launches social media campaigns across the Sever Institute and Technology & Leadership Center platforms.
  • Manages social media scheduling calendar.
  • Creates and launches incentives to grow base of followers.
  • Provides regular “look and feel” updates to social media properties.
  • Analyzes effectiveness of social media campaigns to create guidelines for future campaigns      .   
  • Ensures compliance of social media posts to WashU’s Marcomm guidelines.
  • Monitors comments to social media and responds, removes, or notifies pro staff, as necessary.
  • Provides additional light administrative duties, as necessary.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with two to three years of experience working in social media space.
  • Candidate should be comfortable with technology, including the use of social media publishing and measurement software and other tools to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Hubspot, and Google-based communications tools
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in creating written and visual social media.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills.
  • Basic or better knowledge of effective marketing strategies.
  • Beginner or better knowledge of photo and video capturing and editing.
  • Continuing knowledge of current and popular social media trends and strategies.
  • Highly organized to carryout social media campaign strategies.
  • Assists staff with additional requests as they arise.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Marketing or related field, and at least two years of relevant experience.

Salary Range
$22.92 - $35.49 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
