Job Summary

The Social and Digital Media Specialist works in coordination with the members of the Administrative Operations (AO) Communications Department and internal and external stakeholders to deliver timely, quality communications support for AO. Your primary responsibilities include planning, creating and managing social media content. Areas of focus include writing, editing, producing multimedia and maintaining social media platforms and website content. This position will ensure communications align with AO and university branding, increase brand awareness and engage key audiences. The Social and Digital Media Specialist requires a seasoned professional contributor who will implement large projects, establish defined processes and work to improve the effectiveness of communications.

 

This is a hybrid position that alternates between working remotely and reporting to the West Lafayette campus as needed by job requirements. The successful candidate must live within daily driving distance of the West Lafayette campus.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of Two (2) years of experience required in digital marketing, digital content creation, communications, social media or related fields 

 

Skills Needed:

  • Demonstrated communication skills, with a strong emphasis on writing and editing
  • Ability to:
    • create strong, engaging social media and website content and assess systems and processes for continuous improvement
  • Experience following brand standards 
  • Experience in fast-paced work environments
  • Customer service orientation with a “can-do” attitude
  • Willing to explore and learn new software and platforms for social media
  • Good time management skills to meet deadlines on multiple projects
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency 
  • Must provide a portfolio that highlights digital, social and writing projects 

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with the following:
    • Cascade, WordPress and/or other content management systems
    • Hootsuite or other social media planning platform
    • Video and photography
  • Adobe Creative Cloud proficiency 
  • Knowledge of the following:
    • SEO and Google Analytics
    • Current web design and accessibility standards
