Department Description
The UNC Center for Women’s Mood Disorders and Perinatal Psychiatry program are within the Department of Psychiatry. The primary purpose of this clinical and research based program is to explore the biological and genetic underpinnings of women’s mood disorders in the perinatal period.

Position Description
THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 1-3 YEARS
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a research assistant to studies on postpartum depression for the UNC Center for Women’s Mood Disorders. This person will assist with clinical research including subject recruitment and retention, subject screening, follow up study visits, data collection and entry, and drop off of study supplies to participants. This position will also include phlebotomy to obtain blood samples, wet lab processing, and maintenance of documentation related to clinical trials. These responsibilities require frequent contact with patients and UNC staff and ability to work independently. 
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Experience with Microsoft Office is essential. Experience in clinical research with human subjects is essential. Ability to work well independently and with others in a team setting and to communicate complex study information to potential research subjects is critical. Experience with phlebotomy (blood collection) is essential. 
Preferred Qualifications
Prior clinical trials experience is a plus. Experience interacting with mothers and infants from diverse backgrounds is preferred. Experience obtaining informed consent is preferred. Experience with wet lab processing (processing of biological samples) is preferred. Experience administering psychological scales is preferred.
