Department Description
The mission of the Department of Pediatrics is 1) to provide state of the art critical care, chronic care, and acute care of children with a full spectrum of pediatric disorders 2) to teach Medical Students, Residents and Fellows to excel in the field of pediatric medicine and to 3) conduct highly meritorious clinical and/or laboratory-based investigation in each division or program.  
The Division of Allergy and Immunology serves the children of North Carolina in the diagnosis and treatment of children with known or suspected immune deficiencies and allergic diseases, including food and environmental allergies. 
Within the Division, established and anticipated research studies conducted by the Food Allergy Initiative (FAI) supports a nationally recognized program. The program is dedicated to the study of new medicines and treatments, laboratory studies involving allergies and desensitization (mice and human subjects), and the education of community physicians, allied health professionals, and the public.

Position Description
The research assistant will be part of a group of research staff in the Food Allergy Initiative recruiting for various industry and government funded projects. This position will be required to screen, provide information to, and obtain informed consent from potential study participants. Responsibilities also include data collection, specimen collection and processing, and being on-call by phone when necessary. 
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Must have clinical research experience AND experience working with obstetric clients. Must have experience screening and data collection in Epic. Must be expert in MS Office; very strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills, must be able to work independently; must be able to analyze and interpret policy and procedural guidelines and apply those guidelines appropriately, must be skilled in organizing workflow and coordinating multiple priorities. This position is for a bilingual RA, fluent in English and Spanish. Phlebotomy experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of the research principles and methods of data entry, collection, and analysis to complete defined assignments independently. Working knowledge of statistics and information technology to apply a variety statistical techniques and formulae in the collection and preparation of data/information related to defined research area.
