Position Summary Information

The Stress and Health Research Program is part of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The primary purpose of this program is to conduct clinical research aimed at understanding the role that stress plays in the development and maintenance of medical and mental illness. A secondary purpose of this program involves training of graduate students, medical students, and postdoctoral fellows in clinical research. |

Position Summary | THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 2 YEARS. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a study coordinator, working closely with the Principal Investigator (Susan S. Girdler, PhD) to support all aspects of volunteer recruitment, retention and testing. The person in this position will oversee the recruitment and prospective evaluation of adolescent females into a longitudinal study designed to investigate the role of stress, the menstrual cycle, and hormone fluctuations in the development of mood symptoms and suicidal thoughts. This individual will also contribute to all laboratory testing sessions, including the administration of laboratory stressors, conduct mood and suicidal thoughts interviews, and instruct subjects on the completion of the daily mood ratings. The individual in this position will also support all aspects of data collection and management and supervise other staff and students. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work well in a team setting. Experience working with or conducting research with adolescent females. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Working experience with obtaining informed consent, enrolling subjects into clinical research protocols, and conducting interviews. Experience with data collection and management and supervising students and staff. NC driver’s license |
