Job Summary
Inspects, maintains and repairs, commercial mowers (4-cycle engines, 8-23 hp), generators, spreaders, aerators, trimmers and other equipment. Orders supplies and parts. Acts as lead worker for grounds crew for maintenance and repair of grounds equipment. Fills in for motor pool calls as necessary. Acts as groundskeeper as necessary. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or state recognized equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the mechanical field including formal training.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University’s Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Small Engine Repair accredited certification or Small Engine and Repair Technology/Technician Associate degree or equivalent education
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Advanced knowledge of automobile mechanics and safety practices.
  • Skilled in use of hand and power tools.
  • Skilled in problem solving and decision making.
  • Ability to understand manuals and verbal instruction technical in nature.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines and tackle emergencies and difficult situations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
