Under the supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor this is skilled work in a wide variety of trade tasks in the areas of electrical, general maintenance, equipment, and repair of buildings. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Maintenance / Repair - 80
Repair or replace light fixtures, bulbs, drivers, and ballasts in residential and commercial buildings. Work with 0- 480 volts daily. Inspect, repair, or replace emergency lighting and batteries, electrical receptacles, and switches. Repair and replace appliances as needed. This may include, but is not limited to washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, garbage disposals, ice machines and water heaters. Replace damaged ceiling tiles. May assist carpenters, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and electricians in their assigned duties. Coordinate and install temporary power cords for university events. All work to be code compliant.

Any other duties and tasks assigned or as required to meet the goals of the department, division, and Georgia College.
Inventory - 10
Organize, repair, and maintain hand tools and power tools. Clean shop areas, mechanical and electrical rooms with broom, mop and shop vac. Organize and stock building materials. Maintain stock of bulbs, ballasts, drivers, miscellaneous parts, and supplies needed for maintenance and repairs. Dispose of waste generated from maintenance activities properly.

Educational Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Other Required Qualifications
Valid Driver's License.
Required Experience
Three years of general maintenance or preventative maintenance experience.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Certification from a technical or trade school.

ABILITIES
Follow oral and written instructions. Work with individuals with various backgrounds. Remain on task even while under no direct supervision for extended periods. Understand and follow safety precautions. Self-motivated, positive attitude and customer service orientation. Use electrical testing devices and voltage meters. Read and comprehend technical manuals and diagrams, work in confined spaces, thread pipe. Operate motorized man lift, forklift, and golf cart.
KNOWLEDGE
Good working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Tools used in these trades, such as but not limited to testing equipment, circular, reciprocating saws, sanders, grinders, drills, pipe thread machine, sewer machine, and various hand tools and wrenches. Knowledge and experience in multiple areas of general maintenance, a demonstrated ability and willingness to follow oral and written instructions.
SKILLS
A person working in this classification will need to be able to grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy objects (50-75lb) objects daily. Able to climb (on an average of 50+feet), and work from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding and staging daily.
