Summary of Duties:

The Site Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, administration, and direct support of the WSU Tri-Cities- Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) project at a designated middle school. Provides services to a cohort of approximately 150-799 students, manages an operating budget, and supervise temporary/hourly staff.
The Site Manager represents the university as primary liaison to the partner schools and their communities implementing GEAR UP goals and objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, university, and grant regulations.
Duties include but are not limited to: provide direct services to students; planning, preparation and leadership participation of group activities and workshops; coordinate and communicate with school administrators, teachers, staff, parents, students, and colleges, community members, organizations, and businesses; provide local leadership in program development and evaluation.
This position will provide support to key program components, including tutor training and supervision, career exploration, and post-secondary preparation.
This is a temporary, full-time position with a work location in Mabton, WA.

Required Qualifications:

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

  • Hire, train, and supervise GEAR UP personnel to include administrative professionals, student and adult tutors.

  • Assigns and schedule work, approves employee absence, and recommends disciplinary actions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with tutoring, academic, and counseling programming.
  • Experience supervising subordinate staff.
  • Experience managing a government grant program in a middle or high school setting.
  • Experience developing and managing a budget.
  • Experience coordinating events and field trips for students.
  • Experience working with college readiness programs.
  • Professional first-hand experience motivating students of low-income or disadvantaged youth.
  • Knowledge of community, educational and social service resources in the district’s community.
  • Bilingual/Biliterate in English and Spanish.

Monthly Salary: $4,626.00

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end on 9/29/2024. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
