Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Single Cell Analysis Specialist for the Medical Oncology division of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. 
This position will provide support for single-cell data analysis to the lab. The lab is dissecting the fundamental principles governing initiation, metastasis and therapeutic resistance of gastrointestinal cancers with an emphasis on the functional contribution of the microbiome and tumor microenvironment. The lab utilizes an integrated genomics and biological systems-based approach employing a diverse array of experimental models and cutting-edge techniques to conduct mechanistic and translational studies. The overarching goal is to identify new vulnerabilities and novel treatments that can be translated to the clinic.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  •  Perform single-cell RNA sequencing transcriptomic analysis independently. 
  •  Collaborates with scientists and clinicians within and outside of the Rutgers Cancer Institute in the application of bioinformatics and systems biology to basic science and investigative clinical research. 
  •  Analyzes sequencing data using established pipelines. 
  •  Contributes to the development of novel algorithms and pipelines for investigative research and clinical applications. 
  •  Establishes and performs appropriate QC measures.

Minimum Education and Experience
  •  PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field. 
  • Experience analyzing high-throughput genomic and transcriptomic data. 
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven skills in programming are essential. 
  • Effective oral and communication skills. 
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of molecular biology or cancer biology.. 
  • Prior experience with performing single-cell RNA sequencing transcriptomic analysis.
