The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Simulation Technology Manager to join our team of professionals.

Duties include:

  • Provides comprehensive management and support for simulation-based training, including planning, preparation, execution, and post-activity breakdown. Ensures all simulation equipment and supplies are operational and ready for use to facilitate seamless training sessions.
  • Maintains and continually improves computer systems and simulation technologies to create realistic and effective training experiences. Oversees regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and updates of all technological tools and systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Operates and programs simulation equipment to create training scenarios. Develops and delivers training sessions for staff and faculty on technological systems and scenario execution. Creates and updates technical manuals and documentation to support system operation and user proficiency.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the emerging state of the art systems and Simulation technologies by reading journals, manufacturer literature, and other appropriate material. Attends conferences, workshops, and seminars.
  • Oversees the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all simulation equipment with a focus on minimizing downtime. It includes maintaining up-to-date expertise in simulation technology, coordinating with vendors for quick issue resolution, and managing equipment lifecycles from procurement to replacement. Ensures timely maintenance checks and adherence to manufacturer recommendations for preventative care, guaranteeing optimal equipment performance and reliability for all simulation activities.
  • Oversees budget management, procurement, and inventory control for the simulation center in collaboration with leadership team. Develops strategies for cost allocation, equipment purchase and upgrades, and ensure equipment safety and performance through regular checks and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensures department alignment with organizational strategic goals and key results. Assists with the development procedures and practice standards consistent with the simulation center's mission and educational objectives. Develops and implements workflow processes for the simulation program and continually works to refine processes to create an environment that supports teaching and learning and assures smooth daily operations.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for the Educational Management Solutions (EMS) system that centralizes simulation center scheduling, inventory, assessment tools, and assessment data collection. Assists the simulation team in setting up new users in the EMS system.
  • Works with the leadership team to report Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) data collected within the EMS system. Collects data to support research and projects as appropriate. Assist with other special projects or initiatives as needed.
  • Manages and tracks technology and procurement of equipment and supplies used in the simulation center. Creates recommendations for new equipment purchases, upgrades and maintenance schedules.
  • Manages simulation technicians and other assigned personnel, overseeing recruitment, training, and supervision. Coordinates with HR for effective staffing and ensure all team members are proficient in operational aspects of simulation equipment.
  • Travels between campuses and/or affiliated sites as needed.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Provides orientation to students, residents, and other professionals on the simulation center and activities conducted within the center. Collaborates on developing and designing simulation scenarios for teaching and assessment involving simulation equipment/technology.

 

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience.

Experience with Audio Visual Systems (A/V) , Learning Management System (LMS) and multimedia equipment, preferably in an academic environment.
Experience with the operational support and troubleshooting of simulators in medical education.
Experience with inventory processes and maintenance of supplies/equipment.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator Certification (CHSO) preferred or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
