Simulation Technician I

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Reporting to the Director or designee, assists in installation, testing and maintenance of simulation and other equipment pertaining to the inter-professional Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation, iCELS.  Performs technical assistance for iCELS users.  Assists with all aspects of running a simulation including recording scenarios, equipment setup and clean up.  Provides after-hours coverage as needed.



ESSENTIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares skills lab and simulated learning activities in coordination with the simulation technician and faculty
  • Provide resources in the skills and simulation lab for mastery of psychomotor and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Assist in developing and implementing clinically based scenarios for simulation.
  • Implements and runs simulation exercises using low, mid and high-fidelity human patient simulators.
  • Assist faculty in planning and implementing simulation activities.
  • Maintain a clean, fully equipped simulation lab.
  • Manage the room set-up and clean-up for demonstration of clinical procedures and practice.
  • Maintain lab and simulation equipment, to include upkeep and maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate on ordering and maintaining inventory of all lab supplies and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with all faculty in scheduling the skills and simulation lab.
  • Assist with iCELS approved special events.
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and equipment
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting equipment
  • Able to travel to offsite locations as needed
  • Able to provide technical support after hours and/or on weekends as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clinically relevant experience in a health care setting (e.g. allied health roles)
