Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Dean of the School of Health, Wellness and Public Safety (HWPS), this position is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing simulation-based learning for students in the health care professions programs, in collaboration with the faculty. This position manages, schedules, and coordinates the low to high fidelity simulation resources such as mannequins and computer simulations, conducts faculty development, and enhances student experiences through the use of the various simulation resources at the college.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Consults with the faculty members in the various health care profession programs in HWPS to design simulation-based scenarios to meet the class learning objectives.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students. Provides a safe environment for students in which they can make mistakes and learn from them.
  • Sets up, operates and troubleshoots clinical simulation technologies and associated audiovisual equipment so that the simulation training can run smoothly.
  • Designs and delivers various educational programs for faculty development in use of clinical simulation, debriefing, and assessment.
  • Debriefs with the faculty and students after each simulated clinical experience to allow the student to have deeper understanding and synthesis of knowledge.
  • Directs and assists with the set up and break down of the various simulation equipment needed for the various classes and activities.
  • Ensures that instruction is consistent with national health care professional standards to assure skill and knowledge competencies of graduates of the health care profession programs.
  • Provides controlled and structured clinical experiences for students so that standardized learning objectives can be met consistently with all students and trainees.
  • Assists in the planning for replacement of existing equipment and the purchases of new technology. Helps systematize ordering and organization of simulation supplies.
  • Designs education experiences for the community in collaboration with Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) Workforce Training Center (WTC).
  • Serves as an educational consultant for inter-professional initiatives.
  • Provides guidance for the lab manager, instructional technicians and information technology staff.
  • Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Simulation Technology, or Healthcare profession.
  • One (1) year of experience in simulation-based education and training, instructional design, evaluation of outcomes, patient safety, and implementation of innovative simulation-based education and training programs as necessary.

Preferences

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Simulation Technology, or Healthcare profession.
  • 1 year of experience teaching in Higher Education.

Department: HWPS/NPS

Primary work location is Main Campus with regular travel required between satellite campuses.

Ability to regularly work standard business schedule, Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00pm.

Position is full-time, in-person/non-remote, 40 hr./week.
