What we want
The Simulation Coordinator, under direction of the Assistant Director, schedules and coordinates activities and assists with the clinic learning resources operations at our Houston location. The Teaching Associate Coordinator is responsible for and will assist in overseeing Clinical Learning Resource Center day-to-day operations. The primary location is Houston, TX located inside the Texas A&M Health Discovery Tower at Innovation Plaza. This is a non-faculty position.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree and ne year of relevant experience in coordination, event planning, education, simulation, healthcare, or teaching associate program

  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as within varied teams

  • Ability to effectively and comfortably interact with faculty, staff, students, and the community

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Zoom, and Google Drive applications

  • Highly efficient organization and time management skills

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Intermittent travel is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Three years related experience in simulation, healthcare, or education

  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, Radiation Technologist, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate or similar

  • Teaching Associate certified or medical certification or licensure. Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)

  • Experience in healthcare

  • Experience in education

  • Experience in event planning

  • Experience with/performing as a Medical Teaching Associate

  • Experience working with varied individuals and communities

Responsibilities:

  • Logistics: Coordinates and implements teaching associate program for all campuses including recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating teaching associates. Coordinates implementation of teaching associate encounters, digital audio/video recordings, student debriefings, and evaluation of teaching associates, performances, and checklists. Coordinates training classes, workshops, presentations, and quality assurance; provides customer support as appropriate. Participates in on-campus and assigned Telesimulation events including setting up rooms for simulation scenarios to include preparing moulage, setting up furniture, supplies, and equipment, and implementing scenarios or skills training. Restores rooms, human patient simulators and equipment to state of readiness after scenarios or training. Travels as needed to other sites.

  • Compliance & Collaboration: Design, develop, modify, and maintain instructor-led and/or Teaching associate-based training classes, workshops, and presentations in alignment with CLRC SP Program mandates. Create, modify and/or maintain training materials, resources and presentations related to education of health professions via Teaching Associates, skills labs, and other CLRC educational programs with approval from CLRC administration. Maintains the assigned physical space and supplies, if assigned per location. Collaborates with faculty and Teaching Associate Program Manager for training of teaching associates to specific cases or events; collaborates with faculty and staff for planning of teaching associate events on all campuses and external sites.

  • Technology: Manages audio/visual recordings for all teaching associate events, schedules recording sessions, troubleshoots issues with A/V system, tracks status of recordings during testing events. Coordinates and supports use of SimulationIQ software. Maintains the Texas A&M Time Clock System for all teaching associates, providing support, monitoring, and approving monthly time and invoices. Participates as a Teaching Associate as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
