The Texas A&M Clinical Learning Resource Center (CLRC) trains and educates students with the latest tools and technology in a simulated clinical environment. The CLRC is essential to the training of medical, nursing, pharmacy, and public health students and practitioners across the state. A staff of educational and clinical experts carefully construct scenarios in a simulated clinical environment designed to expose students to situations they will encounter in practice. The CLRC’s Standardized Patient Program and innovative Teaching Associate Programs are at the forefront of national standards for medical education. Multiple national and international studies have proven the value of simulation in greatly reducing the risk of harm to future patients.

The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Simulation Coordinator (Working Title: Standardized Patient Coordinator) to serve as a member of the Clinical Learning Resource Center (CLRC) team. Job Summary: The Texas A&M Health Science Center’s Clinical Learning Resource Center (CLRC) Simulation Coordinator (Workday title) Standardized Patient Coordinator (SP-Working Title), at the Bryan/College Station CLRC, is responsible the overall management standardized patient program at one of the five CLRC campuses. The individual in this position assists the SP Program Manager by recruiting, training, and scheduling standardized patients in support of the CLRC events. The SP coordinator also supports the other campuses by participating in and providing coordination for their events as needed. The SP Coordinator ensures customer relationships are developed and maintained in accordance with the TAMU core values (excellence, integrity, leadership, loyalty, respect, and selfless service). This position is also responsible for ensuring participants' safety; implementing effective, healthcare simulation standards of best practice; and the accurate and timely completion of administrative actions, financial reports, purchasing actions, and invoicing completed. This staff position reports to the CLRC Local Site Manager – Bryan/College Station

Required Education and Required Experience:

  • Associates Degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • One year of relevant experience in coordination, event planning, education, simulation, healthcare, or theater arts.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education and Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health, project management, or communications related field.
  • One year of program management / events planning or healthcare simulation experience.
  • Three years related experience in simulation, healthcare, or teaching.
  • Three years related experience in events management / project management.
  • Experience with/performing as Standardized Patient or Medical Teaching Associate.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within diverse teams.
  • Ability to effectively and comfortably interact with a faculty, staff, students, and the community.
  • Experience with direct customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom, and Google applications.
  • Highly efficient organization and time management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in post-secondary education.
  • Clinical care equipment.
  • Human Patient Simulators / Medical procedure simulators.
  • Audio / visual equipment, including CCTV technologies, microphones, and Crestron system.
  • Experience with audio/visual software, learning management software and customer resource management software.

Preferred License and Certifications:

  • CHSE-Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator and/or medical certification or licensure.
  • CHSOS – Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist.
  • CHSE – Certified Health Simulation Educator.
  • Current (within last five years) healthcare certification or license.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).

Other Requirements or Other Factors:

  • This position is security sensitive.
  • This position may require some work beyond normal work hours.
  • This position may require 20% or more of travel.
  • This position requires compliance with TAMUS/Texas A&M Health Science Center and CLRC Policies and Procedures.
  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.

Responsibilities:

Logistics Duties:

  • Coordinates and implements standardized patient program for the campus including recruiting, training, scheduling, evaluating standardized patients and compiling reports.
  • Coordinates implementation of standardized patient encounters, digital audio/video recordings, student debriefings, and evaluation of standardized patients, performances, and checklists.
  • Coordinates training classes, workshops, presentations, and quality assurance; provides customer support as appropriate.
  • Participates in on-campus and assigned TeleSim events.
  • Travels as needed to other sites as needed.

Technology Duties:

  • Manages audio/visual recordings for all events, schedules recording sessions, troubleshoots issues with A/V system, tracks status of recordings during testing events.
  • Coordinates and supports the use of SimulationIQ software.
  • Maintains the Texas A&M Time Clock System for the assigned campus, providing SPs support, monitoring, and approving monthly time and invoices.

Compliance and Collaboration Duties:

  • Design, develop, modify, and maintain instructor-led and/or Standardized Patient based training classes, workshops, and presentations in alignment with CLRC SP Program mandates.
  • Create, modify and/or maintain training materials, resources and presentations related to education of health professions via Standardized Patient simulations, skills labs, and other CLRC educational programs with approval from CLRC administration.
  • Maintains the assigned physical space and supplies, as assigned per location.
  • Collaborates with faculty and Standardized Patient Program Manager for training of standardized patients to specific cases for performance; collaborates with faculty and staff for planning of standardized patient events on the assigned campus and external sites. 
  • Works with the department to assist other associates in preparing for and running events as needed.
