As one of the fastest-growing academic health centers in the nation, the Texas A&M University Health Science Center encompasses five colleges and numerous centers and institutes working together to improve health through transformative education, innovative research and team-based health care delivery. The Texas A&M Clinical Learning Resource Center (CLRC) trains and educates students with the latest tools and technology in a simulated clinical environment. The CLRC is essential to the training of medical, nursing, pharmacy, and public health students and practitioners across the state. A staff of educational and clinical experts carefully construct scenarios in a simulated clinical environment designed to expose students to situations they will encounter in practice. The CLRC’s Standardized Patient Program and innovative Teaching Associate Programs are at the forefront of national standards for medical education. Multiple national and international studies have proven the value of simulation in greatly reducing the risk of harm to future patients.

Required Education and Required Experience:

  • Associates Degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health, project management or communications related field.
  • One year of program management / events planning or healthcare simulation experience.
  • Three years related experience in simulation, healthcare, or teaching.
  • Three years related experience in events management / project management.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multi-functional printer, telephone.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within diverse teams.
  • Ability to effectively and comfortably interact with a faculty, staff, students, and the community.
  • Experience with direct customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom, and Google applications.
  • Highly efficient organization and time management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • High comfort level with technology and inventory management.
  • Human Patient Simulators / Medical procedure simulators.
  • Audio / visual equipment, including CCTV technologies, microphones, and Crestron system.
  • Experience with audio/visual software, learning management software and customer resource management software.

Preferred License and Certifications:

  • CHSE - Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator and/or medical certification or licensure.
  • CHSOS – Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist.
  • CHSE – Certified Health Simulation Educator.
  • Current (within last five years) healthcare certification or license.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).

Responsibilities:

Logistics Duties:

  • Assists with coordinating and executing simulation activities and with the daily operations.
  • Coordinates student activities including setting up rooms, preparing moulage when necessary, setting up furniture, providing adequate supplies, issuing equipment per event needs, and implementing scenarios or skills training.
  • Restores rooms, human patient simulators and equipment to a state of readiness after scenarios or training.
  • Frequently review the CLRC calendar to verify event requests are submitted to completion and scheduled appropriately.

Maintenance and Technology Duties:

  • Coordinates maintenance and repairs on simulation equipment to include human patient simulators, and task trainers.
  • Assists with tracking inventory, stocking and maintaining supplies in the supply room.
  • Maintains laundering of linens and storage upkeep and PAR Levels.
  • Provide tech. support and training to faculty regarding simulation equipment such as Sim Pads, Monitors, CLRC specific software etc.

Compliance & Collaboration Duties:

  • Coordinates implementation of patient encounters, digital audio/video recordings, student debriefings, and evaluations.
  • Supports all team members in preparing and running events when necessary (this may include printing/copying/displaying paperwork, assisting with traffic flow, etc).
  • Conducts CLRC tours and demonstrations as deemed necessary.
  • Up to 25% intermittent travel is required for this position.
