The Marketing and Communications office is divided into five teams - Creative Services, Media Services, Engagement and Outreach, Strategic Communications, and Digital Marketing - and is led by a Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. Our mission is to build, manage and promote the brand experience to further our university's mission and goals.

Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) is seeking a self-motivated and creative individual for the position of Signature Event Designer as part of a central Marketing and Communications team. This full-time position provides a unique opportunity for a highly knowledgeable event designer to see university events from conception to completion, while shaping the overall desired aesthetics. From vision to tangible outcomes, the designer will bring events to life. This individual will coordinate planning in collaboration with other departments and employees for some of the university's largest and most well-known campus events, including:

  • Commencement
  • New Student Convocation
  • Other highly acclaimed cultural, educational and professional events

The events planner will report to the Director of Creative Services and works closely with other staff within Marketing and Communications and across campus to achieve the university's strategic goals.

This individual will need to be detail oriented, enjoy working with a host of diverse audiences, and be committed to helping S&T meet its brand-building and strategic goals by managing project delivery elements with a deadline.

This position will manage all aspects of an event from preplanning, determining resource needs, pre-event marketing, to post-event follow up. In addition, the position will provide the inspiration for and/or lead in the development of associated event concepts and aesthetics and may design marketing materials that support the events to ensure brand consistency for a wide variety of projects in both print and digital media, including but not limited to programs, brochures, invitations, posters, booklets, ads, social media assets, presentations and event signage.

This position will entail occasional early mornings, late evenings, and weekend hours. An ability to work efficiently and effectively and manage multiple projects is essential, along with excellent decision-making, communication, and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to meet strict deadlines and work on multiple assignments while working effectively with diverse and demanding constituents.

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

  • At least 2 years of experience in the meeting and events industry, with proven project management skills.
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CPM) certification or working toward certification.
  • May require experience managing to a budget and the ability to work with a variety of projects and vendors.
  • May request portfolio of past work.
  • Experience in graphic arts and publications is strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of printing, publishing and/or graphics art procedures and related computer software is strongly

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $58,960-$60,000 annually. 

  
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
