VHCC is seeking a full-time Supply & Warehouse Clerk to provide efficient, effective, and compliant mailroom, warehouse, property control, services to the College. The position will ensure that services and logistical functions related to College mailings, the receiving of goods and asset tagging are efficient and consistently executed; the individual will support facilitating effective communication and provide essential administrative support for mailroom, supply room, and property control and property surplus to optimize functionality of the Business Operations at Virginia Highlands Community College.
Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing and logging all daily shipping and receiving from USPS, FedEx, UPS and other carriers. This includes maintaining a productive two-way dialogue with delivery drivers. Coordinate and process all outgoing shipments using USPS, FedEX, UPS and other carriers. This includes keeping accurate files of all goods shipped by VHCC.
  • Receive all deliveries from VHCC’s contracted bookstore, including sorting and logging all deliveries. Using VHCC’s Student Information System, coordinate pick up of books/materials in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with Business Office on all items received that require asset tags on equipment and assists in annual inventory of capital assets.
  • Manage College’s Central Supply Room that includes general office supplies for the entire campus, including maintaining inventory of supplies.
  • Using eVA (Virginia’s E-procurement System) order replacement supplies, receive in eVA in a timely manner and restock.
  • Support College departments with inventory and asset management as directed.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to read, write and verbally communicate, are required for interacting with all levels of the college administration, facility staff, vendors, and carrier representatives.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and files
  • Experience in postal and/or inventory operations.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Valid and clean driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver a pallet jack, hand truck, and delivery cart.
Additional Considerations

  • Experience in logistics, warehouse or inventory environment with frequent customer and carrier interactions
  • Previous experience in higher education mail-room or warehouse environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
