Location: West Lafayette, INDIANA
Job Summary
Perform general maintenance and repair duties on buildings; equipment; or campus streets, parking facilities, and outdoor signage. Respond to and prioritize work orders. Troubleshoot to diagnose problems and determine repair or maintenance. Maintain parts and supply inventory. Perform snow and ice removal. May service equipment on a routine preventive maintenance schedule. May perform custodial or grounds maintenance work, or assist with training.
What we are looking for :
- High school diploma/GED
- General maintenance work experience
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: basic plumbing, carpentry, electricity, painting, plastering and locksmith fields
- Mechanical aptitude and leadership skills
- Will perform basic math functions
- Competencies for this position are work standards and productivity, communication, interpersonal and intercultural relations, decision making, and dependability; may include financial, coaching, delegation, and planning
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively with supervisor and coworkers, and customers
- Lift and move up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, and stand, walk or stoop extensively
- Work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds
- Read and understand blueprints, schematics and written and verbal instructions
- A valid US or Canadian drivers’ license
Preferred:
- Familiarity with University policies regarding building maintenance and security. The ability to work independently in a face paced environment.
What you must have :
- Two years of general maintenance work experience
- Mechanical aptitude skills
- Leadership skills

- Good written and verbal communication skills

Typically requires a high school diploma/GED
