Job Description

The Senior Web Communications Specialist ensures engaging, accurate, cohesive, and relevant web content is maintained for the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station’s (TEES) primary agency website and the College of Engineering’s website. Assist the web content editors for the College of Engineering and TEES with web content placement and adherence to branding and style. Provide recommendations with content placement based on data provided by team members managing analytics. Support College of Engineering’s strategic plan with the strategic content placement, particularly in recruitment and retention of students.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, write, update and edit web content on top-level pages for the College of Engineering and TEES websites by ensuring that it is current, correct and engaging.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure best placement of digital content for SEO and readability.
  • Review all new web pages on College of Engineering and TEES websites for style, readability and content accessibility.
  • Audit existing content throughout the websites for adherence to editorial guidelines, cohesiveness of content and branding, and electronic accessibility of content.
  • Maintain a schedule that identifies key dates to update specific webpages.
  • Collaborate with web content editors for the college and TEES on SEO and keyword improvements for website content.
  • Work with writers to develop lists of keywords that website content should be focused on.
  • Assist with the positioning of web content for maximum impact based on Google Analytics data and Google keyword search tools.
  • Monitor, assess and report the effectiveness of positioned content through various user interface tools, which includes Crazy Egg and Google Trends and Google Search tools.
  • Align web content strategies closely to the College of Engineering’s and TEES’ strategic plan.
  • Assist with project management of TEES and College website needs.
  • Supervises web content specialist

Required Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related field.

Required Experience:

  • Five years of communications and/or marketing experience.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in writing for the web with an emphasis on content strategy; optimizing content for search engines (SEO).
  • Writing for the web with experience in ensuring that content is accessible.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to draft clear, concise documentation and reports.
  • Experience in writing content for the web with an emphasis on SEO and readability.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and university requirements on accessibility, and the ability to help in compliance in this area.
