Job Summary

Under the direction of the DevOps Managers at Risk and Safety Solutions (RSS), in collaboration with the department Architects and Lead Developers, the Senior Web Applications Developer provides expert mentorships, training, and overall direction to the application development teams. This role leads the planning and integrating of the most complex and mission-critical systems to ensure all current and proposed development meets and exceeds current standards. Pioneers industry best practices, guides technology decisions and communicates strategic technology standards, frameworks and principles to be used by development teams to maximize efficiency as an organization.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Position requires working extended periods of time working/operating a personal computer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Occasional overtime, including weekends and evenings may be necessary to meet reporting, budget, and fiscal close deadlines.
  • Vacation may be limited during fiscal close process (May-July).
  • This position is eligible for hybrid-working arrangements.
  • Adhere to workplace safety practices, read information communicated about workplace safety, complete required safety training on time, and report any workplace safety issues promptly to their supervisor or the designated safety coordinator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Four or more years of experience as a senior programmer, developing multiple applications and integrating with external software/systems a minimum of (1) year of experience using test-driving development methodology.
  • Three or more years of experience leading projects and working collaboratively with large and distributed technical and non-technical staff to meet project and organizational goals while maintaining a strong sense of ownership.
  • Experience managing application programming and implementing the full software development life cycle methodology while working with a diverse team, including test engineers, UI/UX - Designers, Product Owners, and Customer Support.
  • Experience mentoring/leading junior and mid-level developers and promoting professional growth.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Skilled in the use of software packaging and release management processes; including utilizing issue tracking, release tracking, continuous integration, and documentation (e.g. Jira, GitHub, BitBucket, Confluence).
  • Oral and written interpersonal communication skills to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:   

  • Experience with technology and communications in a university and healthcare setting and handling academic, Protected Health Information (PHI), and other sensitive data.
  • Experience defining and modeling business unit needs with appropriate techniques to produce design and technical specifications and prepare documentation for use in the design and construction phase of systems development.
  • Experience researching and implementing a new technology that solves a specific problem and championing that technology for wider adoption and ownership.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Knowledge of distributed computing architectures, including client/server and World Wide Web.
  • Skills to discover, identify, and establish scope of problems and define solutions to highly complex problems.
  • Skilled in building loosely coupled, service-oriented distributed systems.
