What We’re Looking For

The Senior Treasury Accountant reports to Assistant Vice President - Treasury and assists by analyzing and processing large dollar transactions and complex reconciliations related to the University's bank accounts and exercises judgment to determine disposition of discrepancies. Prepares bank account daily activity report and assists with the daily bank summary prepared for the Treasurer.  Records, examines, and analyzes financial transactions; computes financial data; analyzes and prepares reports; monitors accounts; reviews financial transactions for accuracy and conformance with established standards and procedures; and serves as an accounting resource. The Senior Treasury Accountant also assists with debt related reporting, both internal and external, and provides support in this area as needed.

A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, plus five years of related experience and an active Christian Faith is required. A CPA license or working towards a CPA license is required; Master’s degree is preferred. 

A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

Work is based in Waco, TX., with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement on a case-by-case basis as coordinated with manager.

What You Will Do

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare, analyze, and research large dollar/complex bank account reconciliations by review of general ledger accounts for comparison to bank statements. Coordinate journal entries with the staff in Student Accounts, Office of Sponsored Programs, and various campus departments to ensure the University's cash balances are properly reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare financial analyses and reconciliations of accounts related to banking and debt related activities, and coordinate correcting entries, as needed. Research discrepancies and review transactions for timeliness, accuracy and conformance with GAAP and established procedures.
  • Maintain an updated working knowledge of and compliance with University policies and procedures and accounting/bookkeeping guidelines that relate to treasury transactions, to include but not limited to banking transactions and debt.
  • Prepare analyses, reports and suggest improvements to internal controls, policies and procedures related to recording, reporting, and reconciling treasury related activity in the University's books and records. 
  • Review and monitor daily bank statements for deposits from external agencies/businesses and distribute information to appropriate staff for recording in the University’s financial system. 
  • Prepare routine and non-routine journal entries to related to treasury activity. Use experience and judgment to identify and correct errors. 
  • Participate in the University's annual external and internal audits.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
