Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Health Professions (SHP) – Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions has two (2) openings for a Senior Training and Consultation Specialist. As an integral part of the New Jersey Comprehensive School-Based Mental Health Initiative, the Senior Training and Consultation Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating training and technical assistance activities and materials related to the project’s school-based mental health objectives. The Senior Training and Consultation Specialist provides advanced level training and consultation services and technical assistance to support the implementation of evidence-based school mental health services and supports in schools and districts. This position requires an understanding of recent developments nationwide and from the research literature of school mental health needs, services, and supports. The position is funded through a NJ Department of Education contract.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Develops, implements, and administers educational training programs for the K-12 educational workforce (school administrators, teachers, school counselors, social workers, psychologists, support staff, etc.).
  • Provides consultation and technical assistance to schools and districts to support the implementation of evidence-based school mental health services.
  • Serves as a point person for communication on all programs.
  • Serves as the liaison between the Director, supervisor, staff, and course faculty.
  • Assesses the training, curriculum development, and technical assistance needs of various constituents and actively shares this knowledge with program staff.
  • Develops and implements web-based training activities and online educational courses.
  • Organizes and develops high quality conferences and workshops.
  • Develop effective instruments to evaluate each training and technical assistance initiative with measurable results; contributes to and prepares reports related to the degree of success in achieving program outcomes.
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge and expertise in topics related to school mental health workforce development and multiple areas of evidence-based or empirically supported school mental health interventions/approaches.
  • Contributes to the preparation of scholarly manuscripts and presentations.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Education or a related field is required with a strong focus on education/behavioral sciences.
  • At least two (2) years of progressively increasing responsibility in education/behavioral sciences or a related discipline providing or coordinating adult-directed training or educational programs and/or consulting with educational settings; or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and three (3) years of experience.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; administrative and organizational skills.
