Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Health Professions (SHP) – Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions is seeking a Senior Training and Consultation Specialist to become an integral part of the grant funded Peer Crisis Training Project (NJ-DHS Sub-Contract / SAMHSA TTI). The Senior Training and Consultation Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a specialty training program aimed at peer specialists working in early intervention programs that provide crisis services to persons diagnosed with serious mental health conditions.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Conducts needs assessments with crisis service providers and other stakeholders.
  • Develops curricula for both in-person and web-based training programs.
  • Delivers curricula through utilization of a variety of engagement techniques that are aimed at adult learners
  • Develops individualized consultation / technical assistance plans and provides on and off-site consultation / technical assistance services.
  • Utilizes own expertise in mental health evidence-based practices to make recommendations on implementation of behavioral health services.
  • Develops effective instruments to evaluate training and technical assistance with measurable results; measures change in knowledge, skills, and behaviors over time.
  • Contributes to and prepares reports related to the degree of success in achieving program outcomes.
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge and expertise in topics related to mental health workforce development and multiple areas of evidence-based or empirically supported mental health interventions/approaches.
  • Contributes to the preparation of scholarly manuscripts and presentations.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in behavioral health providing or supervising rehabilitation-oriented services and coordinating adult-directed training or educational programs (and/or consulting with mental health providers on their
    training needs); or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and three (3) years of experience.
  • Experience working directly with persons diagnosed with serious mental health conditions; and experience developing training curricula and providing training to mental health practitioners.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of adults diagnosed with serious mental health conditions and best practices in psychiatric rehabilitation, including trauma informed care.
  • Knowledge of mental health systems, psychiatric rehabilitation philosophy/methods and peer-provided support services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of trauma informed care, resilience/self-care, implementation science and demonstrated success in implementing training projects.
