Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Enterprises, the Senior Tableau Developer will be responsible for independently building interactive, customizable Tableau reports and dashboards to support client needs; blending data, creating action filters, parameters, and necessary calculations for data analysis and data visualizations; establishing and maintaining standard processes, best practices, and documentation for Tableau development and the Tableau Server; configuring and maintaining the Tableau Server - client onboarding, user management, permissions, site configuration, and site roles; gathering requirements from clients, setting timelines for dashboard development, and helping troubleshoot any platform issues in the process; establishing connections to a variety of data source types (Oracle, SharePoint, Microsoft SQL Server, Spatial files, etc.); and creating advanced SQL queries to support Tableau solutions.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree; more than eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience working with advanced analytics tools, relational databases, and information technology and creating and publishing Tableau visualizations; experience designing complex IT solutions and leading projects; experience optimizing queries and analytics tools for performance; experience configuring and maintaining Tableau Server; experience writing complex SQL queries against multiple data sources; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree; familiarity with the software development lifecycle; and ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
