Provides senior programming and systems administration for University services. Provide support on Java, Java Script, and PHP for Enterprise Systems. Provides application programming, database and Unix systems administration support for critical Enterprise wide systems.

  • Manages Enterprise Systems services are running in cloud (Azure, AWS and/or OCI).
  • Functions as a systems administrator for Linux and Windows Servers and provides management and technical support for these systems.
  • Provides Java, Java Script, and PHP programming support for Enterprise systems, and its supporting environments, including in-house built applications and web applications.
  • Provides programming and application support for Enterprise Systems application, phonebook, listserv, EHS, and Voting system, including Disaster Recovery environments.
  • Provides programming and systems support for university's DevOps tools like Ansible, TerraForm and Jenkins.
  • Coordinates the implementation of change to and maintenance of servers, programs/applications residing on said servers and maintenance of subsystems in support of the hardware and software architectures. Follow and implement the department's DevOps practices.
  • Coordinates the implementation of changes to, and maintenance of, previously mentioned servers, programs/applications residing on said servers and maintenance of subsystems in support of the hardware and software architectures.
  • Responsible for tools in order to automate the monitoring of these systems by operations and other personal. Ensures that proper backups are being performed, so that all previously mentioned systems can be recovered.
  • Ensures that system and data security requirements are met by adhering to security guidelines and procedures. Monitors system logs, installs applicable patches in a timely manner, performs periodic vulnerability scans, subscribing, and monitors vulnerabilities published on security lists (e.g. Bugtraqs and CERT). Closes ports that are not needed for the system and/or associated application to function and use available tools such as ports entry, firewall products, port-scanners to guard against system compromises. Documents startup/shutdown procedures, backup/recovery procedures, operating installation and configuration procedures, application installation, and resolutions.
  • Responsible for implementing and monitoring Division of IT rules and policies and for recommending new and improved procedures to effectively manage the assigned area of responsibility. Assists in development of administrative procedures for systems assigned. Frequent contact with users, vendors and other universities and agencies for the purpose of sharing information. Responds to client departmental requests using written, oral and face-to-face interaction.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing.  The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology related field and four (4) years of experience in systems administration; OR eight (8) years of experience in systems administration
  • Experience in Java, Java Script, and Java Spring programming.  Experience in PHP programming.
