The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Office of Philanthropy - Resource Management is currently recruiting for a Senior Stewardship & Donor Relations Specialist.

Primary Duties:

  • Develop comprehensive and individualized stewardship strategies for University donors using creative ideas and innovative technologies. Engage with School-based development staff by assisting them in establishing and coordinating donor relations and stewardship plans.
  • Execute partnership with major gift and planned giving officers to develop and implement a comprehensive stewardship plan that targets and strengthens long-term relationships with major donors.
  • Maintain personal contact with each stewardee/targeted donor at least annually either in person or virtually encouraging additional gifts, endowments, and/or new funds. Support a process that prompts executives and assists them in maintaining personal contact with major donors and volunteers.
  • Draft and send communications to major donors, ensuring all communications are personalized as appropriate and delivered to intended recipients in a timely manner.
  • Design, implement, coordinate, and execute donor-centered stewardship programs, including major gift and planned giving donors that acknowledge, recognize, celebrate, and communicate the impact of gifts and expand donor relationships.
  • Coordinate information tracking processes regarding acknowledgment, recognition, ongoing communications, and continued stewardship of past and current major and planned giving donors to enhance their relationship with the University and increase the likelihood of continued contributions.
  • Create and implement streamlined donor recognition mechanisms at appropriate giving levels, while also exercising flexibility and customization regarding the University’s relationships with respective donors. Oversee the use of video acknowledgment system for the University’s high-level donors.
  • Ensure that details of stewardship plans are compiled and communicated to all involved parties, and that the plan is documented, implemented, and included in the moves management system.
  • Establish standards, policies, and procedures for donor relations and stewardship and recognize donors at all levels with specific emphasis on leadership and major gift donors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

  

Education: Bachelor's degree.

Experience: Five (5) years progressively building a background in the various philanthropic functions, preferably in higher education, with at least two (2) years of experience with donor relations and stewardship.

Supervisory Experience: N/A.

Certification/Licensure: N/A.

Other: No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.

Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Hiring Range: $69,000 - $75,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)
