Job Responsibilities

Please note: This is a grant funded position with a strong possibility of funding through 2026. The current round of funding will end on July 31, 2023. A renewal grant proposal is currently being reviewed by NSF which if funded, will end on July 31, 2026.

To provide administrative support to DeafTEC in all aspects of general center administration and grant management, budget monitoring, and reporting. Support provided to the DeafTEC directors and PI's (Principal Investigators) includes: meeting and document preparation, travel arrangements, financial reconciliations, event logistics and planning, and maintaining records.
DeafTEC: Technical Education Center for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students is a National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Technological Education Resource Center (award #1902474) established at RIT in 2011. The goal of DeafTEC is to increase the number of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in highly skilled technician jobs in which there continues to be underrepresentation and underutilization of such individuals in the workplace. DeafTEC serves as a national resource for high schools and community colleges that educate deaf and hard-of-hearing students in STEM-related programs and for employers hiring deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.


Required Qualifications

  • Experience with event planning and arranging travel for large groups of people
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing work in a complex, fast-moving office environment
  • Familiarity with Deaf culture and with American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Strong computer and internet research skills
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to coordinate and follow through on tasks, work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others
  • Sign language skills or the willingness to learn ASL

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with federal grants budgets preferred.
