Job Description Summary

Wharton Computing seeks to fill the role of Senior Solution Architect for its growing and dynamic continuing education units. This position works closely with business units and academic departments and centers across all of Wharton.

Job Description

This position is responsible for identifying business requirements, requirements management, functional design, prototyping, process design, testing, training, defining support procedures, leading work streams and supporting Salesforce implementations that modernize and support solutions for key sales processes, opportunity management, quote-to-cash, and revenue management processes. 

  • Lead the strategic planning and implementation of transformative technology projects, focusing on application-based tools within Salesforce such as Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, EDA, and more. Architect and configure cutting-edge technical solutions on the Salesforce platform, utilizing advanced components such as custom objects, Flow, Lightning Web Components, and APEX code to capture and align data with stakeholders' overarching goals. Establish seamless integration with other information management systems to foster a unified technical landscape.
  • Lead meticulous security model design and user management practice, including overseeing the activation of new users, managing user profile, role, and permission set structure, and implementing sophisticated security measures like Salesforce Shield. Lead comprehensive system maintenance, upgrade, and documentation projects. Proactively identify strategic improvement opportunities through system measurements and analysis, ensuring the continuous improvement of technical capabilities.
  • Champion end-to-end strategic initiatives, driving user adoption, maximizing value realization, and ensuring a high return on investment through top-tier support for Salesforce tools. Collaborate seamlessly with Wharton Computing, Finance & Administration, and business stakeholders to align technology initiatives with broader organizational objectives.
  • Lead and strategize special projects, including the development of proofs of concept/value (POCs/POVs) for innovative tools and features. Manage vendor partnerships and conduct thorough system audits, demonstrating a commitment to strategic planning, innovation, and excellence. Maintain a forward-looking perspective by staying abreast of the latest Salesforce features and functionality. **Provide strategic recommendations for continuous system and process improvements to ensure the sustained alignment of technological initiatives with the strategic goals of the Wharton School.
  • Execute additional strategic responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the school's technological advancement and success at the highest level.


Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of Salesforce work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Salesforce Administrator, Platform App Builder, and Platform Developer I certifications are required.
  • Hands-on experience in Salesforce administration with a focus on custom object creation, permissions, and data management.
  • Proficiency in building flows within Salesforce using Flow Builder or similar tools. Experience in creating complex workflows and automated processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex business challenges and translate them into scalable Salesforce solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both technical and non-technical.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, handling multiple projects simultaneously and adapting to changing priorities.


Preferred Skills:

  • Additional Salesforce certifications: Experience Cloud Consultant
  • Comfortable writing APEX.
  • At least one year of experience with the EDA data model.
  • Experience using Jira to manage your workload.
  • Experience with Gearset and Testrail.
  • Experience working in the Higher Education field.


Please note: Quarterly night or weekend hours may be required to facilitate major deployments or feature releases, but effort will be made to keep this to regular business hours.
