The Department of Soil and Crop Sciences is focused on education, research, and outreach to solve the world’s most pressing food production issues and crucial matters about Earth, its ecosystems, and their services. Position Summary
Colorado State University’s Soil and Crop Sciences seeks website software engineer to help develop software to support web-based data input, real-time model execution and user-friendly output designs.
Required Job Qualifications
  • A required combination of education and relevant experience in software design and web-applicable programming with JavaScript, C# or Java, and React may be substituted on a year-by-year basis.
    • GED plus 9 years relevant experience OR
    • Associate Degree plus 7 years relevant experience OR
    • Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of relevant experience OR
    • Master’s degree plus 3 years of relevant experience
  • Database experience – Postgres, MySQL, and/or SQL Sever
  • Demonstrated communication skills
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at time of application; the department will not provide visa sponsorship
Preferred Job Qualifications
Experience:
  • working on natural resources applications
  • using design patterns
  • conducting code reviews in a software team-oriented environment
  • with Openlayers or leaflet
  • with GCP or AWS
  • with CI/CD pipelines
  • with unit testing frameworks
  • with front end testing frameworks
  • with Postgis or Arcgis or similar spatial layer knowledge

Knowledge of website accessibility standards such as ARIA
Degree(s) in computer sciences, information technology or similar relevant field
