We are hiring immediately for a Senior Software Developer to join the UTHealth School of Biomedical Informatics in Houston, TX 77030. Ideal candidate for this role will have extensive experience with hands-on design, coding, integration and deployment experience in Cloud-based applications. Strong knowledge of .NET applications is preferred. This is a Hybrid/ Remote position.

Position Summary:

Provides technical skills required to analyze science, engineering, business, and other data processing problems to design solutions to automate or facilitate various education, research, and business processes.  Performs Full-Stack development and support for applications of moderate to difficult complexity and scope with general direction.

Position Key Accountabilities:

• Develops and implements complex applications, application databases, and interactive Web interfaces according to design specifications and departmental standards; establishes test plans and data; validates and verifies functions in applications; and prepares necessary forms and documentation for implementation.
• Interviews clients/users for problem definition and analyzes user needs, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
• Writes and maintains technical documentation for application requirements, coding standards, and operational procedures.
• Maintains, revises, and updates current application code or configuration including troubleshooting, fixing bugs, and improving functionality.
• Resolves problems that arise with existing production applications.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

• Experience with computer hardware, software and programming.
• Excellent technical and general communication skills, both oral and written.
• Experience with Web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Cloud (Azure), DevOps, Configuration management, Infrastructure automation, Continuous Integration, and Delivery (CI/CD).
• Web development, application development using Visual Studio .NET technologies like C#, ASP.NET MVC 5, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, XML Web services, WCF and WPF
• Relational databases SQL, MySQL and NoSQL technologies like MongoDB.
• Continuous integration and end-to-end automation of all builds and deployments.
• Using/managing source code repositories like GitHub, and Bitbucket.

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or related experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

• Seven (7) year of relevant experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
