Position Summary
This position collaborates with the principal investigator (PI) on designing, conducting and reporting of research projects in the Department of Developmental Biology. This position organizes all research related operations and communications while ensuring overall effectiveness, compliance, and consistency.
Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the PI on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects.
- Monitors NIH changes/and other agency changes and distributes information to the faculty.
- Assists with grant preparation and reporting including but not limited to training, equipment and core grant applications; identifies on a regular basis grant opportunities for faculty in the department; assists faculty in preparing for such opportunities; identifies and facilitates large collaborative projects and grants; and develops and oversees mechanisms for tracking grant submission data (current awards, pending awards, grants submitted, etc.).
- Prepares, proofreads and/or submits papers on research and other scientific documents.
- Provides data for research components of the department’s strategic plan; contributes to the department’s strategic plan and develops and maintains long-range planning and development.
- Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Manages research projects with other institutions and investigators.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of standard laboratory policies, procedures and equipment.
- Ability to communicate in oral and written form with all levels of personnel and technical publications.
- Ability to work well independently or as a team member.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D., M.D. or an equivalent terminal degree and at least three years of postdoctoral experience.

Salary Range
$59,200.00 - $107,400.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
