Since forming the nation’s first full-time department of gastroenterology in 1927, our physicians have continually improved treatments for digestive tract and related disorders by combining medical research, education, and patient care at the highest level.


Job Summary
 

The Section of Gastroenterology is looking for a Senior Research Technician with expertise in mouse colony organization, molecular biology, as well as processing and storage of human samples to work with the Jabri and Abadie Labs. Their group has developed several complex mouse models that require high level skills in mouse colony handling, genotyping and organization. These mouse models help dissect the mechanisms underlying autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. In addition, projects in the labs involve the processing of human samples for multiparametric flow cytometry and single cell RNA sequencing analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of complex mouse colony organization, breeding.

  • Optimization and execution of protocols for complex genotyping protocols (by quantitative PCR and/or flow cytometry).

  • Isolation of cells from peripheral blood and human biopsies.

  • Organization of human samples and biobank.

  • Performs RNA isolation, and library preparation for RNA sequencing.

  • Collects, records, and analyzes data.

  • Writes protocols and SOPs.

  • Assists with organizing laboratory and ordering supplies.

  • Non-laboratory related duties may include attending seminars, presenting findings at lab meetings.

  • Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.

  • Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge relevant to administer a research project. With a moderate level of direction, manages lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Helps develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan.

  • Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects. Conducts literature reviews and helps write reports and manuscripts. Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
