Position Summary/Description:


The Environmental Finance Center (EFC) works to enhance the ability of governments and other organizations to provide environmental programs and services (e.g. water, storm water, etc.) in effective and financially sustainable ways. The EFC works exclusively on high impact public service work to guide and educate practitioners and policymakers who are responsible for managing environmental programs and services. EFC influences thousands of local communities through interactive training, direct assistance and advising, applied research, and innovative information dissemination. In addition, EFC works with decision-makers to assess and improve environmental finance policies at regional, state, and national levels. Visit efc.sog.unc.edu to learn more about the EFC.
The Senior Project Director will hold a pivotal leadership position within the Environmental Finance Center (EFC). This role is primarily responsible for securing funding and implementing projects across various environmental areas. The Senior Project Director will collaborate with the EFC Director, Associate Directors, current Project Directors, Project Analysts, students, and other EFC staff to ensure successful project completion.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Project Management, Serving as a Principal Investigator on designated projects, Providing technical assistance and developing environmental finance resources, tools, and other deliverables, Budget planning, Business development, and Managing a team.
Position Funding: This position is contingent upon the continuing availability to the School of Government of funds from sources other than continuing state budget funds or permanent trust funds.

Education and Experience:


- Preferred degrees or experience in public administration, public health, planning, environmental management/studies, environmental engineering, public policy, business administration, finance, information science, or political science.
-Experience with R, python, Microsoft excel, or other software
-Experience with speaking engagement in public settings
-Experience working within a university setting

Essential Skills:


-A solid understanding of fundamental concepts of environmental finance and the ability to apply those concepts to a variety of deliverables.
-Demonstrated project management experience
-Strong Project Management Skills
-Has demonstrated initiative in seeking funding (e.g., building relationships with existing and/or potential clients, active participation in business development conversations)
