Job Description

The Senior Research Engineer independently applies advanced knowledge of scientific research or engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Uses a wide application of complex principles, theories and concepts in the specific field or fields. Works on complex problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors. Acts as a principal investigator on various projects.

Position headquarters will be in Europe.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop research opportunities for TEES in Europe in general and France in particular through research projects sponsored by the industry and other entities such as the European Commission.

  • Work with the TEES collaborators in Arts et Metier to raise funds for research equipment and platforms.  The intention is to place this equipment in a joint research facility with Arts et Metier in their campus in Aix-en-Provence.

  • Identify research opportunities for TEES researchers and facilitate the development and submission of proposals.

  • Conduct research in collaborations with TEES researchers and collaborators in Europe in the areas of manufacturing and materials.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Master’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Doctorate degree in engineering or related field with emphasis in manufacturing, materials engineering, and/or instrumentation.

Required Experience:

  • Six years of related experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in research or industry work in engineering.

  • Evidence of experience in developing R&D opportunities with the industry and funding agencies, writing proposals and management of engineering projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills in English (writing and presentation skills).
