Job Overview

The College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, is currently accepting applications for a part time Senior Research Associate. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.
 

 

The Sr. Research Associate will participate in the development and design of research projects, protocols and experiments in the area of diabetes, red cell biology including isotopic labelling of human red blood cells in vivo and breath carbon monoxide measurement. Modify and adapt experimental protocols, techniques and procedures to specific project requirements. Design, coordinate and conduct experimental procedures. Prepare research results and written summaries of results in manuscript form for publications and in graphics form for presentation at research meetings and for grant proposals. Maintain and ensure compliance with regulatory protocols and records.


Essential Functions
  • Modify and adapt experimental protocols, techniques, and procedures to specific project requirements. 
  • Maintain wet lab focused on protocols such as extraction of heme from hemoglobin, measurement of catecholamines by HPLC and processing human subject blood for different ELISA and radioimmune assays.
  • Perform statistical and geographical analysis of data, interpret data and assist in judging the validity of the data.
  • May design, coordinate and conduct experimental procedures.
  • Prepare research results and written summaries of results in manuscript form for publications and in graphics form for presentation at research meetings and for grant proposals.
  • Serve as a seasoned level researcher and may act as a mentor to junior-level research staff.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time-off, etc.). 
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with regulatory protocols and records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.


Required Experience

Three (3) years of experience in related field, process or discipline.
