The Department of Cancer Biology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking a self-motivated Research Assistant to join the new laboratory of Dr. Amanda Wasylishen. This position will assist research on epigenetic dysregulation in pancreatic diseases including cancer and pancreatitis. Responsibilities will include: initial lab set-up, assisting with the daily running of the laboratory, and making independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience. • Ordering and organizing laboratory supplies and records
• Independently perform experiments and records data according to research protocols.
• May maintain and oversee animal colony management and animal husbandry.
• Solve problems using combined research knowledge.
• Analyze research results. Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data.
• Organize data search and analysis procedures.
• Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards.
• Assist with the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data.
• Accomplish assigned results for projects/studies, or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments.
• Serve as seasoned professional.
• May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).  
• Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

• Three (3) years of relevant experience.
• Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.

Previous experience with genetically engineered mouse models, mammalian cell culture, immunohistochemistry and/or nucleic acid purification.
