Summary

The Senior Research Administration Associate contributes to the strategic efforts and leads implementation for pre-award and/or post award grant activities and programs.  


Job Duties
  • Recommends improvement to and changes in operations to increase effectiveness and efficiency.  
  • Provides grant program expertise, financial expertise, and guidance related to sponsored research to leaders and faculty.
  • Reviews compliance related to grants, certifying summary data in the College's electronic Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN) on behalf of the department.
  • Contributes and leads the development and continuous improvement of the post award grants management process.
  • Reviews and analyzes current protocols, faculty-staff communication, and quality of the submission process.
  • Makes recommendations for process revisions and lead implementation of changes as appropriate.
  • Consults with faculty regarding sponsored funding. The opportunities can range from simple fellowship grants to complex grants and contracts.
  • Contributes to the preparation of budget for grant quarterly/biannual/annual reporting purposes.
  • Prepares grant related reporting for all sponsored awards.
  • Ensures compliance with all guidelines.
  • Serves as grants liaison between faculty, Baylor College of Medicine, national and international institutions, and/or federal/private funding agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with computer systems, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful handling of multiple projects with critical deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment effectively in decision-making process.
  • Develops and maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
