The Emory Addiction Center in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences seeks a Senior Program Officer. They will be responsible for managing a newly funded National Institutes of Health R01 project focused on integration of substance-related care into family planning settings, in partnership with a major national sexual and reproductive healthcare organization and applying implementation science.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Assists in managing administrative activities associated with research projects including training and supervision of personnel, grant and budget preparation, data management and statistical analysis and adherence to applicable regulations.
- Assists in preparing budgets, monitors expenditures and prepares financial reports.
- Manages databases including data collection, coding, analysis and storage.
- Assists in developing and submitting grant proposals; monitors grant expenditures and advises principal investigator of changes in reporting or accounting requirements.
- Serves as project liaison to other departments, outside organizations, government agencies and product representatives.
- Oversees the preparation of operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies.
- Ensures project is administered according to research protocol.
- May assist in recruiting and interviewing patients/subjects, developing and conducting tests and surveys, gathering or abstracting data or making presentations.
- May conduct literature searches and assist with publications.
- May supervise staff by orienting, training and giving them ongoing performance feedback.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
• Monitors and coordinates project planning, to ensure tasks and activities by all project staff are on schedule
• Submits and manages Emory institutional review board applications
• Coordinates multi-site protocol and amendment submissions to WCG IRB, the single IRB for the study
• Leads the development and writing of protocols and reports for project sponsors and others.
• Leads recruitment and management of student team members and entry-level staff members.
• Participates in manuscript and abstract preparation
• Designs and prepares complex charts, data tables and presentations.
• Communicates with research partners, sponsors, faculty and staff as well as other internal and external constituencies.
• Updates and maintains timelines and project management tools to ensure all tasks are on schedule
• Prepares and monitors research-related project budgets.
• Works closely with the Faculty PI and project team to oversee data collection and data analysis.
• Facilitates in-depth interviews with research participants
• Participate in qualitative analysis process for interview data, including codebook development, transcript coding, and preparation of data displays
• Ensures compliance with NIH requirements, including annual progress reports and submissions to the National Data Archive and ClinicalTrials.gov
• Assists in design and programming of study surveys, including programming skip patterns
• Manages invoicing requests for all study consultants and vendors
• Works closely with partner organizations to operationalize study procedures, develop shared protocols, and maintain consistent communication about the progress on the clinical trial
• Drafts and distributes agendas, takes meeting notes, and coordinates scheduling for study team meetings
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in a science discipline, business management, or related field and two years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
