Job Description Summary:

The Office of the Registrar is dedicated to ensuring that students make successful progress toward degree and graduation by providing the best possible service to all members of the diverse GW community. The office maintains academic records from enrollment through graduation and offers a wide range of services in the areas of classroom scheduling, enrollment verification, registration, requirements tracking, transcripts and degree conferral. We support the university’s mission to promote lifelong learning by administering the various academic policies of the university and providing support to students, faculty, administrators and alumni.
Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Student Support Services, the Senior Registration and Records Assistant is responsible for the following:
  • Processing manual registrations into classes as approved by faculty, academic advisors, and deans.
  • Assist with special program registrations such as Study Abroad, Consortium and Course Audit.
  • Create student records for Consortium and audit students.
  • Responsible for clearly and effectively communicating detailed course registration information to Consortium and audit students.
  • Use professional judgment with exception requests.
  • Provide biographical and demographic updates for current students and alumni and verifying the accompanying documentation.
  • Provides next level support for colleagues in Student Financial and Registration Services.
  • Provides customer services and troubleshooting to faculty, staff, students, alumni and other members of the community.
  • Cross-train with other units within the Office of the Registrar to assist when needed.

The incumbent may perform other duties and special projects as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Banner or other student information systems preferred
  • Experience working with other higher education institutions
  • Registrar’s office experience preferred
  • Experience in higher education preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proven customer service skills and a demonstrated commitment to improving the student experience
  • Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
Typical Hiring Range Commensurate with Experience.
