The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst works closely and collaborates with business functional users to understand/comprehend business requirements; performs analysis, system support, through the use of outlined software testing processes and procedures to ensure ongoing operational efficiency while delivering against requested/needed modifications/enhancements. This position is a senior staff level that works from a broad knowledge of overlapping functions and systems and works in a project or developmental management role involving multiple disparate systems.

Essential Duties

  • Participates in the definition of effective and efficient testing processes and methodologies
  • Establishes collaborative relationships with project manager(s), product manager(s), business analyst(s), software developer(s) and others to ensure success of project test phases.
  • Works with designated Business Analyst personnel to analyze software problems for causes and corrective actions.
  • Participates in the creation of test strategies, plans, test scripts and test data.
  • Participates in the verification of quality standards and test procedures for program design.
  • Mentors, guides, and leads junior QAs as and when necessary.
  • Evaluates and executes testing of new and/or modified application functionality.
  • Assists with the development of test automation used in verifying conformity to functional requirements, web standards and accessibility standards.
  • Analyzes, designs new and/or modified Quality Assurance procedures and standards and assists in the development and implementation of Quality Assurance metrics for assessing the quality of delivered application software.
  • Analyzes documentation, diagram, and flow chart to determine if program will perform according to user request and conform to guidelines.
  • Executes automated testing systems to ensure validity of results, accuracy, reliability, and conformance to established standards.
  • Documents and manages the resolution of defects, creates defect log entries, and assigns defects to the development team.
  • Participates in the review of new Quality Assurance software.
  • Works under limited direction, independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is evaluated upon completion for adequacy in satisfying objectives.
  • Provides training related to Quality Assurance tools and processes.
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar; four years practical experience or relevant experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience.


Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software development processes used at EdPlus, including web based and mobile applications.
  • Experience working in SCRUM and Agile teams.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring junior QA Analysts.
  • Experience in coordinating and guiding the work of vendors in assisting in QA tasks.
  • Experience in executing complex test cases and an understanding of one or more software development methodologies using test management.
  • Experience identifying and creating appropriate test cases, scripts for automation, regression testing and understand software development lifecycle.
  • Experience in analyzing, interpreting, creating, modifying and executing manual test cases and scenarios within various test case repositories and database or ticket systems.
  • Experience in creating repeatable and efficient test set scenarios and suites for others to follow.
  • Experience in creating repeatable and understandable defect and problem tickets for development and other project team members to act upon through a diverse group of applications.
  • Experience in responding to moderately complex situations involving several constituencies.
  • Experience in understanding both the business objectives and the technical implementation of marketing websites, software products and its applications.
  • Experience in focusing focus on deadlines and deliverables to find the bad defects and bugs quickly.
  • Evidence of effective communication with others and to perform work in a team environment.

Working Environment

EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education, and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
