Counseling and Psychological Services supports students through ethical and responsive care and prevention. We foster the well-being of the diverse Mason community through psychological, learning, outreach, and consultation services. We provide high-quality training to emerging mental health professionals. We are committed to excellence in psychological and learning services by promoting student safety, enhancing emotional growth, and supporting academic success. 
 
About the Position:

The successful candidate for the Senior Psychologist position will have an understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression, and the impact these have on mental health. This will be combined with a comprehensive understanding of intersectionality and the lived experiences of diverse students.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Provide clinical supervision of psychology interns and psychology externs, as assigned, in psychology training program;
  • Provide administrative supervision of licensed CAPS clinicians;
  • Provide leadership in CAPS as needed for complex clinical cases;
  • Provide individual and group therapy, consultation, assessment, and case management services, to Mason students. Complete documentation of services within CAPS guidelines; 
  • Provide crisis assessment/intervention through day time and after hours on-call systems, and provide consultation services to parents, faculty, staff, and students;
  • Provide community education programs to Mason community;
  • Participate in internal CAPS committees and meetings as needed; and
  • Participate in University Life and/or University committees or activities related to position responsibilities.

 
Required Qualifications: 
  • Earned doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology;  
  • Licensed as a psychologist in Virginia or ability to obtain licensure in Virginia within 4 months of hire (please note: Virginia does not require post-doctoral hours for licensure);  
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-degree experience, of which 2 years’ experience is as a licensed psychologist;
  • Prior experience providing clinical supervision;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical setting with clients presenting in acute distress; and
  • Evidence of multicultural awareness and experience working with diverse populations.   

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • At least one year of experience providing mental health services to college students or late adolescents.
