Position Description
Advertised Job Summary | The Construction and Renovations Senior Project Manager, working under the supervision of the Director of Construction and Renovation, assists with the coordination and management of projects for University Housing and Student Affairs (SAAS) including overall monitoring of contract administration and the planning, design, bidding, construction, and close out phases of project performance. When assigned, acts as the SAAS client representative. This position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement/hazardous weather and other emergencies. Essential Job Duties: 1. Executes development and coordination of major or significant capital outlay projects through the planning, design, bidding, construction, and close out phases 2. Serves as a team leader for project managers by providing guidance and training on Design and Construction administrative processes and procedures to team members 3. Communicates and coordinates project issues with internal and external clients, professional consultants, regulatory agencies, University administration, facilities management departments and personnel, coworkers by developing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships, meeting with concerned parties, negotiating expenditures, mediating user expectations, refining project scope, and conducting site visits. 4. Executes project specific activities 5. Monitors and controls contractual commitments 6. Maintains knowledge of and implements University and industry requirements, procedures, and standards 7. Minimum Qualifications | Master’s degree in engineering or engineering related field and 1 years related experience, or bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering related field and 3 years related experience or equivalent May graduates will be considered if they will be able to obtain their degree by the date of employment. |

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | Knowledge of principles and practices of modern architecture, design engineering and facility construction. Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the construction and modification of facilities. Knowledge of contract procedures, bidding procedures, architectural agreements and inspection procedures. Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations governing architectural or civil engineering project management for state highway construction, building construction or facility renovation projects. Ability to oversee the work of subordinate engineers or architects. Ability to establish positive working relationships with customers, superiors, subordinates, associates, design and construction consultants, state, local and federal professional personnel and other public and private sector organizations and individuals. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to prepare, review and revise plans and specifications. Ability to problem solve and utilize conscious decision making. Ability to build teams and involve stakeholders. |
