Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager manages primarily laboratory/medical/sciences projects, determines user needs, defines scope of professional services, manages development of construction drawings and specifications, and when necessary, manages projects through construction as assigned by the Senior Manager, Planning & Design. The Senior Project Manager reports to the Senior Manager, Planning & Design, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for oversight and management of design projects of advanced scope, in a variety of disciplines. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for providing expertise as it pertains to the design for plans, specifications, and drawings for new buildings, alterations, and improvement construction projects for various environments across the University’s campus, ensuring alignment with established design standards. For all design projects, the Senior Project Manager manages specific architectural projects, determines user needs, defines the scope of professional services, manages the development of construction drawings and specifications, and manages other projects and special assignments as assigned from time to time. This position requires a bachelor’s degree and ten plus years’ experience working in an architectural office preferable on higher education projects.
Ten plus years experience working in the architectural/interiors industry preferably on higher education (research laboratories, housing, and medical) projects. Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design or Construction Management from an accredited University is required. Ten years of experience in design is required. Design experience in a higher education/campus environment is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment is required. Comprehensive knowledge of applicable building codes, construction standards, and design standards is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
