POSITION INFORMATION

Background

In Oklahoma, cancer and cardiovascular disease are leading causes of death. Oklahomans also experience high rates of tobacco use, poor nutrition, and lack the amount of physical activity needed for health and wellbeing.

The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) aims to improve health and wellbeing by adjusting the policies, systems, and environments (PSE) that impact daily life. This is achieved by creating places in which everyone has a fair and just opportunity to attain their highest level of health. PSE change embeds healthy options and access to opportunities that promote health in the places that Oklahomans live, learn, work, and play.

Your Role

As a member of our evaluation team, you will aid in assessing the impact of the PSE changes implemented in the effort to achieve better health outcomes for Oklahomans.

The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate and conduct document review and analysis. Grantees across the state submit policy and environmental assessments for the cities/towns, schools, worksites, and community organizations they partner with to create PSE change. For example, a grantee may submit a policy for a local jurisdiction that aims to increase access to opportunities for physical activity or an environmental assessment for a restaurant that aims to increase availability and promotion of healthy options. This position would review that policy or environmental assessment to determine if the policy elements align with recommended, high-impact policy elements that are known to increase physical activity opportunities or consumption of healthy options.

Duties:

  • Coordinates all activities related to the project(s).
  • Conducts document review and analysis.
  • Ensures all project processes and outcomes are consistent with the vision and values of the department.
  • Maintains department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, to include but not limited to process improvement plans, assist with operating budgets, and project methodology.
  • Contributes to the development of reports, technical memos, technical assistance tools, issue briefs, and presentations.
  • Uses tracking tools for all projects and summarizes individual project progress to management.
  • Maintains effective internal and external communication regarding project management efforts while providing information to management.
  • Participates in meetings and committees.
  • Performs various duties and participated in other evaluation projects as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Some travel is required. Most travel is in-state and does not require overnight stays.
