The Kellogg Institute for International Studies, part of the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame, is dedicated to the study of democracy and human development, with a geographical emphasis on Latin America and Africa. Since its foundation 41 years ago, the Institute has welcomed top social science scholars to the Notre Dame campus to conduct impactful research on its core themes. As Notre Dame has sought to elevate its standing among the world's top research universities, the Institute has also devoted significant resources toward attracting and supporting the work of graduate students.
The Kellogg Institute is seeking a motivated, entrepreneurial, strategic, and forward-thinking leader for its signature Visiting Fellows program and its portfolio of support opportunities for Notre Dame graduate students.
In close collaboration with the director, executive director, and leadership team of the Institute, the Senior Program Manager will be responsible for preserving and enhancing the quality and prestige of the Visiting Fellows program, and for ensuring that Kellogg successfully addresses the changing needs of Notre Dame's graduate students. The Senior Program Manager plays a pivotal role in facilitating scholarly exchange between Kellogg visiting fellows and Notre Dame faculty and students. They represent the Institute in matters related to visiting faculty/scholars and graduate students, and serve as the liaison for these constituents with the Keough School of Global Affairs Dean's Office and other units across the University (e.g., the Graduate School, Provost's Office, Office of Postdoctoral Scholars, General Counsel, and academic departments). The Program Manager also manages the Institute's agreements with external partners (e.g., Fulbright Mexico, Fulbright Chile) related to incoming visitors. The Program Manager supervises and counts on the operational support of a Program Coordinator.
The chosen candidate is expected to provide strategic thinking and planning to improve recruitment and outreach, expand programming, facilitate integration into the Notre Dame community, and maximize the academic and policy impact of the programs.
Visiting Fellows and Other Visitors

  • Manages the Institute's Visiting Fellows program, which brings 8-12 scholars and policy practitioners from across the US and around the globe to Notre Dame to conduct research for a semester, academic year, or longer; manages selection process, working with a diverse group of faculty reviewers and committees; fellowship administration; communication with other campus departments (e.g., Keough School Dean's Office, General Counsel, Provost Office); orientation and integration of Visiting Fellows into Kellogg community; follow-up and maintain relationships with program alumni.
  • Serves as the Institute's spokesperson for Kellogg programs for visiting scholars and graduate students.
  • Manages agreements with external partners related to other visitors, such as guest scholars and other non-regular faculty or other research appointments. Represents the Institute in all communications relevant to these agreements with partner representatives and prospective visitors.
  • In close coordination with the Institute's director, executive director, leadership team, and faculty, directs promotion of and recruitment for the Visiting Fellows program, curating strong academic networks with top peer academic institutions, both in the US and abroad, especially Latin America and Africa.
  • Facilitates dissemination of visitor research in coordination with the Institute communications team.
  • Encourages and facilitates Visiting Fellows integration to and networking throughout Notre Dame, as well as the Institute's rich alumni community.
  • Serves as the Institute representative related to Visiting Fellows and other visitors with relevant offices across the University (e.g., International Students and Scholars Affairs-ISSA, University real estate, housing management company).
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Kellogg Faculty Fellows and relevant departments and centers/institutes for the purposes of creating mutually beneficial collaborations between visitors and the University's academic community.
  • Conducts periodic benchmarking to maintain the Kellogg Visiting Fellows program as one of the world's preeminent research communities in the social sciences, with an emphasis on the study of democracy and human development.
  • Works directly with Kellogg leadership in the strategic planning of the Visiting Fellows Program and other visitors in relationship to the overall mission of the Institute.
  • Promotes a strong alumni community among past Visiting Fellows.
  • Plans, promotes, and executes events during the academic year for doctoral and masters students affiliated with the Institute, in collaboration with Events and Communications teams. This also includes working with the broader Keough School and other campus units at identifying courses or other intellectual contributions by Kellogg Visiting Fellows.

Graduate Student Affairs

  • Manages the Institute's graduate student programs, which serve more than 100 doctoral and masters students affiliated with the Institute: selection process, including close collaboration with ND faculty members; administration of fellowships, grants, and awards; orientation; communication with other campus units (e.g., Graduate School, Keough School of Global Affairs Dean's Office, academic departments); interactions between graduate students and faculty and Visiting Fellows; follow-up; evaluation of impact; and maintaining relationships with program alumni.
  • Plans, promotes, and executes events during the academic year for doctoral and masters students affiliated with the Institute, in collaboration with Events and Communications teams.
  • Advises prospective and current graduate student affiliates on opportunities at the Institute including funding and professional development proposal enhancement.
  • Facilitates dissemination of graduate student research in coordination with the Institute communications team.
  • Serves as the Institute representative in matters related to graduate students with relevant offices across the University (e.g., the Graduate School, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, ISSA).
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Kellogg Faculty Fellows and relevant departments and centers/institutes for the purposes of creating new and enhancing graduate student program activities.
  • Serves on committees related to graduate student affairs (e.g., Graduate School campus-wide professional development team.)
  • Works directly with Kellogg leadership in the strategic planning of graduate student programs in relationship to the overall mission of the Institute.

Other Duties as Assigned
  • Executes other duties as assigned by Kellogg leadership on matters related to Visiting Fellows and graduate student affairs (e.g., strategic plans, reports, self-studies, external reviews)

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required. Minimum five years of proven program management experience in fields related to democracy, human development, or education, preferably in academia and/or internationally-oriented settings.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree or higher preferred. Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
